Summary of Invasiveness. A. farnesiana is an aggressive colonizer and is regarded as an invasive weed both in parts of its native range and where introduced, notably in Australia, the USA, and some Pacific and Caribbean islands.

Acacia farnesiana thrives in dry localities and on loamy or sandy soils where it may serve as a sand binder (ranging from warm temperate dry through tropical desert to moist forest life zones, Acacia farnesiana is reported to tolerate annual precipitation of 6.4 – 40.3 dm (a mean of 20 cases is 14.0 dm), annual mean temperature of 14.7–27.8.

A. farnesiana is a potential invader of grasslands (Polley et al 2002) and has “aggressive pioneer characteristics in the invasion of pastures, fallow land and disturbed natural vegetation Almost pure stands developed in some areas” (Foroughbakhch 1992), indeed, it was found that biomass increased with increasing planting density (Goel, Behl 2004).
